LITERATURA HOT: ESTUDO DO EROTISMO LITERÁRIO NA CONTEMPORANEIDADE

Abstract

The article investigates hot literature as a contemporary literary phenomenon, situating it within the erotic tradition and highlighting its consolidation through digital platforms and self-publishing. The research demonstrates how the genre has established itself in the publishing market through women authors, who write for a predominantly female readership, thereby transforming the relationship between the production, circulation, and consumption of erotic narratives. The main subgenres (LGBTQIA+ romance, dark romance, and CEO romance) are analyzed, showing how each articulates distinct desires, moral conflicts, and power dynamics. The article emphasizes that, although hot literature expands the space for the expression of female subjectivities and historically repressed desires, it often reproduces patriarchal patterns, especially through the centrality of the male as the dominant figure. The study also highlights the role of the digital market, social networks, and specialized publishers in creating an autonomous and dynamic literary ecosystem. Finally, it provides a critical reading of My Dark Heart (2024) by Alice Bacivangi, a work belonging to the dark romance subgenre, to exemplify the narrative and thematic resources characteristic of this strand.
