INVESTIGAÇÃO PROSÓDICA DOS ENUNCIADOS INTERROGATIVOS DISJUNTIVOS NO PAREAMENTO DE FORMA E FUNÇÃO DA GRAMÁTICA DE CONSTRUÇÕES

Abstract

The present research aims to pay attention to prosodic investigation in the
constructional approach; therefore, constructions of alternative questions were analyzed. Phrase type
whose formulation offers a choice between two (or more) elements, of which, one of them will
constitute the answer: “Você quer leite ou café? (Do you want milk or coffee?)” (MORAES, 1982).
The research investigates the fundamental frequency movements (hereinafter F0) in order to map and
identify intonational aspects that configure the sentence studied and reveal marks of variation. To achieve this goal an approach was adopted the Autosegmental-metric Phonology (AM). (PIERREHUMBERT, 1980; PIERREHUMBERT; BECKMAN, 1988), a theory postulated to describe the tonal set of a language through two levels: the high and the low. With this model, the distinctions
of the intonation movement will be represented as being defended as allostructions (CAPPELLE, 2006) of an alternative question construction: those in which the alternation is operated by the conjunction “ou” and those in which the alternation is made through the preposition "entre". Results demonstrate that, although the constructions differ in the syntactic plane, in the intonational plane the interrogatives have more similarities than differences, such as the nuclear accent L+H H% present in
the two interrogative constructions.
