ENTRE EVA E LILITH: MITOS E ARQUÉTIPOS EM MARGARIDA LA ROCQUE: A ILHA DOS DEMÔNIOS (1949), DE DINAH SILVEIRA DE QUEIROZ

Abstract

This work explores the ways in which the feminine is culturally represented, focusing on the recurrence of myths and archetypes in the novel Margarida La Rocque: A ilha dos demônios (1949), by Dinah Silveira de Queiroz. Among other forms, two general models are used; the first corresponds to the behavioral pattern of subservience and guilt, constructed by the biblical myth of Eve, and the other relates to insubordination and demonization through the reproduction of the pagan myth of Lilith. By situating Queiroz's work within the context of these models, the aim is to investigate how the archetypal images of Eve and Lilith are articulated in the heroine's journey, considering the reconfiguration of the mythical paradigm of the quest from the woman's perspective.  Using a qualitative approach, based on analytical-interpretative bibliographic research, this article is primarily grounded in the theoretical assumptions of: Jung (2000; 2008), Eliade (1972; 1992), Meletínski (2006), Durand (1985; 2012), Douglass (2013), Koltuv (1997), Federici (2023) and Sicuteri (2023). Thus, it is possible to point out that the work under analysis outlines the process of reinterpreting mythological narratives, allowing for a re-evaluation of the conceptions that the feminine has carried for a long time.
