Abstract

This paper focuses on the Functional-Cognitive Linguistics perspective (BYBEE, 2003; DIESSEL, 2015) and Construction Grammar (GOLDBERG, 1995/2006), considering the phenomena of change (TRAUGOTT & TROUSDALE, 2013) and variation (CAPELLE, 2006; HILPERT, 2014;

WIEDEMER & MACHADO VIEIRA, 2018b) the semantic, discursive, pragmatic and cognitive functioning of constructions with support verbs of Brazilian Portuguese of the type [support verb + preposition + name], such as: fazer de tonto(a), dar uma de difícil, passar por inteligente. The analysis methodology for composing the corpora took place through the collection of data in written texts (via Google), and seeks to: map the properties involved in these types of structures and observe if there are signs of variation, constructional change or constructionalization. The results indicate that certain constructs of the most schematic construction are employed by the speakers when there is an attempt to cause a direct or indirect action on their interlocutor or to hide a real intention or feeling regarding a situation. In addition, some discursive domains contribute to detect variation between some forms, perceived as alloconstructions.
